Hi Seamless Friends
2.089 is ready for download here:
www.seamless3d.com/download/
Because of the time invested looking into alternatives to blaxxun chat and just the stress of not knowing the future with the blaxxun home community server my progress has been slowed down this week on seamless which is a shame because just before this news the progress of seamless had been of the type that's very visible ( the rewarding kind of progress). However 2.089 is now here and it introduces a very exciting feature that should greatly aid seamless texture mapping from a single texture file. You can see this new feature that looks like a chess board on the TextureMapper's control panel. By clicking on the tiles in the grid you can select a portion of a texture without needing to deal with numbers. The numbers that are generated automatically from the grid are done so as to leave a little "in-between space" between the portions so that one portion of a textures does not show bits from another portion's border. The best way to see this feature aid seamless texture mapping is to run 2 of my new robot demos I have added for 2.089.
Just press:
f10/ help / textured object demo
Also see the new demo for making a seamed avatar which utilises the texture mapped grid too.
For these 2 new demos you will need the 2 textures files:
simple_texture.png
build_seamed_av.png
from:
www.seamless3d.com/download/seamless_way_examples.zip
Elfi asked if there was a way to pause the robot during operation. In a short time I tried to add a resume popup window when the mouse is moved but this is not very reliable I have found, though it can work depending on where you interrupt the operation. I am sure this could be much improved but for the time being I have made it much easier to be able to follow the new "seamed av demo" by simply breaking the demo up into sub demos. Because each sub demo has to start off with the file of the previous demo it is vital that you start with the first and move onto the next one without skipping any of the steps. However after all the demos have been completed you can then begin any of the demos in any order so long as the demo can find the file it needs.
Hope you enjoy the best version of seamless3d yet ;D
