Yesterday I took a break from programming to finally change the features page from being blank to one that's filled with a summery of seamless's features. Please take a look by going to www.seamless3d.com and click on features from the menu. I have found it quite a task just to do this and I am sure there is something more important that should be there. I worked on it for the best part of the day and into the night till 3:00 AM! My features page has managed to be bigger than others I have compared it to. Perhaps I have waffled on to much as usual and it can be shortened. However I am thinking perhaps this page could be more improved by adding links from it to other pages that elaborate on the features and or links that lead to tutorials showing how one can utilize them. If anyone is interested in any of the features mentioned I would love to get a posting here from you

Thanks Alain for checking that I am still alive hehe Glad you like the new look for the seamless3d site I used all free programs to update my site too I used seamless3d to create all the 3d images www.seamless3d.comI used POV-Ray to render the images. www.povray.org(seamless generated the povray files) For html I mostly used Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005 express. msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vwd/It is great if your computer is fast enough I much liked the fact it checks for dead links and is very strict on error checking. I should have far fewer dead links on my site thanks to it. This program will be free untill october so its well worth getting it before this date Alain! (it wont time out BTW) PS I dont have any Microsoft Shares

hi, thyme be careful with m$ products, in the past they often worked best or only with other microsoft products: Often sites build with m$ did not work for mozilla/firefox for example. But Im sure you check that first, right? = Anyway, thyme, your board did not work with my mozilla and maybe its a solution to use the enviroment of sourceforge.net/ generally? For GPL software developers they have much help, including backuped versiontool, free boards, free DL storage etc.

In the past MS has got it self a reputation for lagging behind in the standards, perhaps mostly because its an easy target, I don't know. However I do know most browsers don't fully conform under the microscope. Although MS continues to push their proprietary languages it would seem too that in recent years it has improved a lot in complying to and supporting non proprietary standards. Although VC 8 has its own non standard C++ extensions (like most other compilers), to my understanding VC8 is up there with the best of them when it comes to being compliant to the C++ ISO standard. I have noticed a number of differences since VC6 (1998) in what is and is not allowed to be compiled relating to what is and is not legal.
Back to HTML, Visual Web Developer Express 2005 can be set to different error settings. I have been quite surprised to find most sites even those approved with those HTML banners that say they conform typically show errors from MS VW Developer's strict error checking feature. I could have limited my site's error checking to just html 4.01 but instead I set it to the IE 6 error checking standard because there were features I wanted to use that were not legal for html 4.01 and because the 4 open source browsers that I used were happy with what I was doing. On this note I have to say I really am not a fan of religiously limiting my self to standards if they are not worth respecting. Its down to us the creators of content to support the standards we want as a standard. Imagine VRML without Blaxxun. Just because something has been made an ISO standard it does not instantly make the standard something of value. I am curious why you are having problems with Mozila though Herm because I have tested my site with a recent Mozila download (1.7.12) and just tested again to make sure and it works fine. I also tested my site with Epiphany, Konqueror, and Firefox open source browsers some weeks ago. What version of Mozila are you using and is it just this forum that's giving you trouble or the seamless3d pages I wrote?
PS Thanks for your suggestion about using SourceForge.net herm, sounds good but I prefer to have my site including the forum free of banners and independent of any organisation . I have had bad experience with sites that offer something free and then change their policy. This can be a problem if this involves having to change your links in the future after taking years to get your links established on many different sites. I hope to upgrade soon to the OVH 60 meg plan. This should ensure a commercial free seamless forum with a URL that will be independent of any organisation. regards

I have used Mozila in the past for editing and tried it again this year. I like the fact that it comes with a spelling checker and in Linux its even better because it does real time checking which helps me learn the English language However I don't like the way Mozila modifies your hand written code. It breaks up long lines into shorter ones and so makes the structure of your code less human friendly to read. Perhaps I am not using the best technique when using it but from my own experience I prefer MS VW Developer because of the way it lets you use a WYSIWYG interface while respecting your hand written code.

Sorry Herm, however I can get to this forum using Mozilla for windows. Perhaps its an see relating to how you have your security settings set or perhaps the version of Mozilla. Anyway I will be migrating this forum soon as I get a chance so hopefully wont be a issue then.
