Thought I would drop this in. Eovia, the makers of Carrara, Amapi and Hexagon, have a free version of Amapi 6.1 (The latest version is 7.5) available on their forum site. The only requirement is to register on the forum to download it. This is a powerful Nurbs and surface modeler and at $795 for the latest version is at least worth a look. It is a large download at 97+ mb and be sure to check the system requirements to make sure it will run on your computer. It will import and export to VRML. Go to www.eovia3d.net/downloads.php

Hi Griff I had little trouble downloading the file Amapi6.1PC_US-FR_eovia3d.net.zip (as far as I remember) . I have not had a chance to install it yet but the 99.5 meg zip file opens with no error message so I presume its ok. I do get strange things happen though when I download some files and find another attempt to download can work when this happens. I have not had a chance to install it yet because I am low on disk-space and so need to do some house work on my hard drive. I been really busy more than ever this last week working on 2.093 because It has taken so long now and I know the current version 2.092 has been left with some bad bugs in it so this is a real pain to my state of being knowing this but the new version should be ready to upload any day now Hope the downloading improves for you regards

Well I have got it to work and installed. I had to use IE .... as nothing worked in Firefox I think it is the download manager in Firefox. Even made my first object ... sphere with a square hole cut in it .... now to see what the vrml looks like TY Omind for finding that It has a polygon reduction tool *Decimate*. Years ago that tool was available as a freebie from TGS ... then it vanished. Was not a bad little tool. griff
